As a child I remember lying in bed at night, afraid that one day I would die. In 1971, at 10 years of age, at a tent revival meeting in Rock Hill, SC, I heard the gospel and gave my heart to Christ asking Him to be my Lord and Savior, trusting only in Him for eternal life. The fear that I had once felt was replaced with a calm assurance that comes from a personal relationship with Jesus. In 1982 I surrendered to the ministry while preaching as a lay speaker at the Ogden Rescue Mission. In 1984 I was licensed to the ministry at 1st Southern Baptist Church of Layton, Utah and in 1990 I was ordained and became the Pastor of Little Creek Baptist Church in Erie, PA. My passion is to see people come to saving faith in Christ.
Since 1982 I have preached the Gospel in Rescue Missions, Nursing Homes, Camps, Conferences and Churches across America. I have used preaching, teaching, music, drama and clowning as tools to communicate the truth of God’s Word to children, youth and adults. Following pastorates in Erie and Tyrone, Pennsylvania I spent two years ministering throughout the tristate area as a full-time Children’s Evangelist, known to kids as “Handi the Clown!” For the past 11 years I have served as a Chaplain in the Pastoral Care Department at UPMC Altoona Hospital. I have seen firsthand the need for this generation to hear the message of salvation through faith in Christ alone. My wife Kim and I have been married for 36 years and have two grown children Valerie and Buddy and two grandchildren Blaine and Autumn.
I hope that you will consider making Colonial Hills Baptist your church home.
